Final BISD 12 Second Tech Challenge (#13) for the Year!

Lucky 13! The final installment of this semester’s 12 Second Tech Challenges focuses on a very useful tool, the Google Forms tool.

You will need to create a Google account, if you don’t already have one (and you really should). The video below shows you how it works. You could create a student or parent survey, an online test/quiz, or whatever. Be sure to share the link to the survey in your comment. (I will give you 2 credits for this if you actually administer it!)

Thank you guys for trying so many new tools! I will announce the winners of the big prizes next Wednesday!

BISD 12 Second Tech Challenge #11!

We’re getting down to crunch time. The big prizes will be announced next week, but for now, intrinsic motivation will have to do! For today’s challenge, you’ll need to create your own blog, using the site Posterous.com. Now, before you click back to the Cartoon Network site just yet, hear me out for a second.

Posterous is a site I recently shared that allows users to post using just an email message, even one that includes pictures or videos. You can even read and reply to comments via email. Accounts are free, of course, and you can blog about anything you like to talk about: family, sports, work, children, movies, food, etc. I want you to see how addictive they can be, and the best way to ensure that is to write about what you know and care about. Just be sure to share your blog’s address here once it’s set up!

BISD 12 Second Tech Challenge #7

12 Second Tech Challenge #7 involves one of my favorite tools. Twitter has allowed me to connect with other educators like no other site I have used. I have learned of new and valuable tools, engaged in thought-provoking discussions, had questions answered, shared my own knowledge, and gotten to know folks around the world via Twitter. Still, I realize that some might not understand the appeal, so I am challenging you to at least give it a cursory trial run. Go to the site, join, then follow 3 other users (I’m “rrodgers”, if you wish to follow me!). You can find a great list of other educators using Twitter as well as useful tutorials at the Centre for Learning & Performance Technologies’ Edutwitter page. When you’re finished, be sure to list your Twitter name here–you might pick up some new followers! As usual, you can view the video below, or you can see it at this link.

BISD 12 Second Tech Challenge #6

Today’s challenge is to create a quiz using the fun and powerful site, MyStudiyo.com. This site allows users with free accounts to create interactive, multimedia quizzes. Embed images and video, set time limits, and choose from a good selection of quiz templates. Quizzes are in just two forms, multiple choice and survey-type, but it is still a very useful and easy-to-learn tool. Quizzes can be shared via link, email, or through several social networks and blog sites. To see the site in action, check out the sample quiz I created in about 5 minutes below. (Note: The video at the beginning is funny, but not essential to the quiz.)

As always, once you have completed the challenge, please reply here and leave us a link to your quiz, so that other teachers and I can see your work. Again, thanks for your participation!
